Truffled French Toast

We "truffed up" a breakfast staple: French Toast. A drizzle of Truffleist Truffle Honey adds a rich, slightly sweet, and earthy depth that takes this dish to the next level.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Whisk

  • Non-stick griddle or pan

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 cups milk, half and half, or heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder

  • 3 tablespoons sugar

  • Pinch of salt

  • 4 thick slices Brioche, sourdough, or white bread (day-old or slightly toasted)

  • Truffleist Truffle Honey, for drizzling

  • Seasonal fruit

  • Neutral oil or clarified butter for cooking

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk (or alternative), vanilla extract, cinnamon powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

  2. Soak the stale or toasted bread in the batter until the liquid is absorbed but not soggy.

  3. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and add oil or clarified butter.

  4. Pan-fry each slice until golden brown on both sides. Transfer to the oven and bake at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes until the center is hot.

  5. Drizzle generously with Truffleist Truffle Honey for a rich, indulgent finish.

  6. Serve with your favorite berries or seasonal fruit.
